What FFMT Does

Renovations / Maintenance / Space Management

  • Space for departmental faculty, staff and students. Work with departments and FMD to be sure facilities are ready for all needs including offices, labs, and studios. Might require working with Space Management to request new spaces.
  • Requests for central (UGA and state) funding. Work with departments, Dean’s Office units, FMD, OUA, OR, and OI to prepare and submit MRR, Lab Enhancement, and Classroom Enhancement requests.
  • Requests for college funding. Work with departments, Dean’s Office units, and FMD to prepare requests for college-funded projects (Small Renovation Requests and special one-time funding).
  • Prepare Facility Project Initiation (FPIF) and Preliminary Cost Assessment (PCA) forms. Work with departments and Dean’s Office units to submit all FPIF and PCA requests regardless of funding source.
  • Point of contact for FMD. Work with departments, Dean’s Office units, and FMD to coordinate outages, repairs, and renovations.
  • Point of contact for outside contractors. Work with contractors and FMD for repairs and renovations.
  • Liaison with Work Order system. Serve as alternate contact in Work Order system and follow up with departments and FMD to resolve work orders that are delayed or complex.
  • Liaison with FMD Building Services. Work with departments and FMD Building Services group to resolve any issues with custodial support.
  • Liaison with FMD Support Services. Work with departments and FMD Support Services to resolve any issues associated with moving office, lab, or studio contents, equipment rental, or special event items.
  • Building Safety and Security
  • Emergencies. Serve as after-hours contact for building emergencies including reporting to campus as needed (will need to develop a rotation and system for contacting Facilities Group and sort out master keys).
  • Building access. Process requests from departments for key card access (handled remotely). Work with the departments to develop a system for distribution and access to physical keys.
  • Signage. Work with departments to request appropriate building signage.
  • AEDs (Automated External Defibrillator). Coordinate AED maintenance for assigned buildings.

Building Safety and Security
