Advanced Music Performance in Italy

  • Summer | Torino, Milano, and Parma | 6 credit hours

A unique opportunity for intensive practice and performance in the culturally rich surroundings of Italy. Students have wonderful opportunities to perform with Italian musicians in a wide variety of chamber and orchestral ensembles. 
 

Bali & Beyond

  • Maymester | 6 credit hours

Learn about Balinese culture through first-hand experience, traveling to a variety of communities, temples and other cultural sites throughout Bali and surrounding islands.

 

Biotechnology in Scotland

  • Maymester I Edinburgh I 3-7 credit hours

This study abroad program will focus on key aspects of biomanufacturing, building on the well-established Bioprocess Science program directed by Dr. David Blum.  This program will focus on concepts in Biotechnology as well as business skills that will position the learner for exciting careers in the biomanufacturing.  The program will be held on the campus of Heriot Watt University and will feature excursions to a range of different locations including biotechnology companies, University Labs and Craft Breweries.

 

Europe: Unearthing the Past

  • Maymester | Greece, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom | 6 credit hours

A program that focuses on the history, art, architecture, and archaeology of Europe with site visits to iconic monuments, museums, and excavations.    
 

Freiburg Study Abroad

  • Summer | Germany | 6 credit hours

Designed for students who want to learn German language skills and study German culture while having a transformative experience abroad.  This course is taught in English and focuses on the sustainable energy practices used in and around Freiburg and exposes students to new and progressive ideas in environmentalism and renewable resources.
 

Korean Internship

  • Summer I 3 credit hours

The Korean language program provides UGA students with an opportunity to work as interns in a Korean high school or a college during the summer. It is a one-month unpaid internship with free board and lodging.

 

Maymester in Tanzania

  • Maymester I 6 credit hours

Tanzania Study Abroad Programs are once-in-a-lifetime experiential education opportunities to study in Africa. Students have the chance to interact with the local people and places in a hands-on setting instead of in a classroom. All of the courses offered are integrated with one another for a holistic, interdisciplinary educational experience. Students learn how to find sustainable solutions to common problems.

 

Portuguese Flagship Program at UFSJ - Semester 1

  • Spring semester I UGA Exchange program

Courses are taught on six different campuses, three of them located in São João del-Rei and the other three in the towns of Divinópolis, Ouro Branco, and Sete Lagoas. The University offers a stimulating environment for academic work, and at the same time, situated as it is in the historical heart of the state of Minas Gerais, it gives access to a range of cultural activities and attractions.

Study Abroad in Russia

  • Summer I St. Petersburg / Moscow I 9 credit hours (11 credit hours for beginners)

The Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies offers a 6-weeks summer study abroad program in St. Petersburg (Russia’s cultural capital) and Moscow (Russia’s official capital and a major political, economic, cultural and scientific center).

 

Surfing and Sustainability in Costa Rica

  • Summer I 6 credit hours

How are communities navigating the complex challenges of conservation and development in the places where surfing and tourism happen? Whose voices get heard?  With a critical lens into the nuances of political ecology, anthropology, geography, conservation and development, we invite you to see it all for yourself, to embody what it's like to be a surf tourist in Costa Rican paradise.

 

Theatre and Film Studies in London

  • Summer I London I 6 or 9 credit hours

Discover the theatre scene over the centuries in London for a month!  From the ritual of Roman Amphitheatres, to Medieval Mystery Plays, to the wicked satires of the Restoration, the wit of the Victorians, the rawness of In Yer Face, the devising of Punchdrunk.

 

UGA à Paris, France

  • Summer I 6 credit hours

The UGA à Paris study abroad program focuses upon the economy, politics, culture, and history of France and Western Europe.  Overnight trips include visits to the Loire Valley, where students will visit several chateaux, Normandy, and Brittany, among many other locations.

 

UGA Classics in Rome

  • Summer I 9 credit hours

The program explores the archaeology, art, and cultural history of Rome to explore its many historical layers from its origins to the modern era. Experience first-hand the monuments of ancient Rome, centuries old churches and palaces, famous art collections, and urban features that were imitated in Europe and the Americas.

 

UGA en Buenos Aires

  • Summer I 6 credit hours

UGA en Buenos Aires is a Spanish immersion program based in the vibrant and cosmopolitan capital city of Argentina—the land of los guaraníes, los criollos, el mate, el tango, Jorge Luis Borges, el peronismo, las Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, Lionel Messi y muchísimos porteños. Our goals are to foster students´ communicative abilities in Spanish in authentic contexts, to deepen their understanding of Argentina and Latin America, and to improve their analytical and writing skills in Spanish. 

 

UGA en España, Cadiz

  • Summer I 6 credit hours

The Cádiz program focuses on the Spanish language and culture.  Courses offered include intermediate and advanced conversation and composition, topics in Spanish culture, and introduction to Hispanic Linguistics.  

 

UGA en España, Madrid-Barcelona

  • Maymester I 3 credit hours

The program gives students an array of cultural activities from the high art and sophistication of such world-class museums as the Prado and the Reina Sofía to the more popular worlds of Spanish fútbol and cinema.

 

UGA en España, Peru Medical Spanish

  • Summer | Cusco and Trujillo, Peru | 6 credit hours

An intense, one-month adventure in the big country of Peru designed for future medical professionals who intend to integrate the use of Spanish in their careers.  The program involves both coursework in medical Spanish and a strong practical component in which students shadow Peruvian doctors in their rounds and consultations in local medical facilities. 

 

UGA en España, Seville Summer

  • Summer | 6 credit hours

The Seville program is a seven-week stay in Spain’s storied cultural capital and the undisputed heart of Andalucía. Daily classes on Spanish culture, language, and business are taught by local academics from the universities of Seville and Pablo de Olavide, and students live and have three meals a day with local families. 

 

UGA en España, Valencia Spring

  • Spring semester I 12 credit hours

Students take four courses for the spring, choosing between language, culture, literature, and film courses.  Courses are taught on the campus of the University of Valencia by native UV faculty, and students live at the Colegio Mayor Rector Peset, an official UV residence hall located in the heart of the city’s casco antiguo.

 

UGA en España, Valencia Summer

  • Summer I 6 credit hours

Students take two courses for the summer, choosing between language, culture, literature, and film courses.  Courses are taught on the campus of the University of Valencia by native UV faculty, and students live at the Colegio Mayor Rector Peset, an official UV residence hall located in the heart of the city’s casco antiguo.

 

University of Liverpool Study Abroad

  • Summer I  6 credit hours

Explore the modern city of Liverpool and the coastal beauty of Northern Wales!  Students will receive credit for two courses for a total of six credit hours.  Students enroll in two courses, one in Sociology and the other in Political Science.  In these courses, students learn about the U.K. criminal justice system and explore variation in crime around the globe. 

 

Women and US Public Discourse in London

  • Summer I 3 credit hours

Students will examine the rhetoric of English women throughout multiple historic and contemporary sites.  London is the site of most major English women’s rights campaigns and thus, an ideal place to access the historic, visual, and the rhetorical artifacts of these campaigns. Students will also meet in a classroom for lectures and to meet experts on the suffrage movement and women’s global efforts for rights today.
