UGA welcomes incoming Ramsey Scholars, Foundation Fellows

Congratulations to the incoming freshman class of Ramsey Scholars and Foundation Fellows. Administered by the UGA Honors Program,

The Foundation Fellowship is

UGA's premier academic scholarship; the recipients were selected from among 1,100 applicants. The Foundation Fellowship was created in 1972 by trustees of the UGA Foundation to enrich the educational experience of outstanding undergraduates.

The incoming class has an average SAT score of 1564 (math and verbal) and an average ACT score of 35, as well as an average high school grade point average of 4.22 on a 4.0 scale; extra points indicate advanced placement courses.

The Ramsey Honors Scholars program

was created by UGA Foundation trustees in 2000 and recognizes the university's most generous individual benefactor to date, Bernard Ramsey, the former chairman of Merrill Lynch and a 1937 graduate of UGA's Terry College of Business.

The incoming class of Ramsey Scholars has an average SAT score of 1547 (math and verbal) and an average ACT score of 35, with an average high school grade point of 4.28 on a 4.0 scale; extra points indicate advanced placement courses.

These twenty-five talented students represent some of the very best of the class of 2020 and, as the list of scholars indicates, the majority will begin studying Franklin College disciplines. Highly competitive scholarships do a wonderful job of keeping some of the best Georgia students in-state for their undergraduate work and in so doing, continue raising the standards of our student body, our schools and colleges, and the university. Welcome to the entire class of 2020. You're going to do great things.
