The English department is seeking a student intern to help run the department social media accounts, curate physical billboards, and write for the online newsletter.

As the English department communications/media intern, your work may involve the following:
- Post announcements, events, achievements, and so forth related to the English department on our social media pages.
- Create content for diverse digital media and news outlets
- Compose marketing materials, such as flyers, newsletters, webpages, and graphics
- Share posts from Creative Writing, Write@UGA, the UGA Library, and other such places that connect to the English department or mention someone from the English Department.
- Write articles for the newsletter, which is published at the end of each semester.
- Various small jobs, such as editing a webpage or checking links.
The ideal candidate will pay careful attention to details; have a keen eye for modern design aesthetics; demonstrate effective social media, digital media, and branding strategies; and work well with others and independently. This internship experience will be for the 2025/2026 school year.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently enrolled with a declared English major or minor at UGA (preferred, but other humanities majors will be considered)
- Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
- Forward-thinking attitude
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to juggle several different projects through completion
- Team player
DESIRED EXPERIENCE (any of the following)
- Social media for an organization
- Marketing
- Design (digital, graphic)
- Canva
This one credit internship, which counts for Experiential Learning credit, will require up to 10 hours of work per week and is for Fall 2025 with a possibility of renewal for Spring 2026. Along with the work of the internship, the student will keep a weekly log of duties/responsibilities and will present a portfolio at the end of the internship with at least three example of the work completed as part of the internship.
