Franklin College is proud to recognize two members of our Information Technology staff for receiving the prestigious 2024 Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
Launched in 2003, the President’s Volunteer Service Award honors individuals whose volunteer efforts make a significant impact on their communities, inspiring others to get involved. The award has four levels: bronze (100-249 hours), silver (250-500 hours), gold (500+ hours), and lifetime achievement (4,000+ hours). To qualify, recipients must complete the required number of service hours within a 12-month period, demonstrating their commitment to making a difference.
This year’s awardees are:
- Laura Rowan, Bronze Awardee, who has dedicated 150 hours providing photography services to local animal shelters, helping to find homes for stray animals.
- Michael Brewer, Silver Awardee, who has volunteered 284 hours in various capacities, including feeding stray cats through Campus Cats at UGA, serving as the Community Band Director for Classic City Band, contributing to the United States PostgreSQL Association (PgUS), and volunteering with HEART Music.
Congratulations to these valued colleagues. Their dedication reflects a deep commitment to our community, and their service reminds us all that every hour spent helping others contributes in more ways than we can imagine.
