Graduate students recognized as outstanding debate coaches

Graduate assistants working with the Georgia Debate Union Becca Steiner and Clay Stewart were recently recognized by the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) as outstanding graduate student coaches.

Steiner, a PhD Candidate in Communication Studies from San Diego, California, and Stewart, an MA Candidate in Communication Studies from the Atlanta area, received their awards at the Southeast Cross Examination Debate Association district tournament held at Emory University.

Per the CEDA website, the awards are "intended to recognize both the pedagogical and competitive contributions to the growth and development of policy debate by graduate student coaches, who are balancing their obligations to their school work and that of their programs. The recipient needs to demonstrate excellence in graduate and professional obligations as well as their work as coaches."

"We are thankful to have Becca and Clay as part of the Georgia Debate Union. They are vital for our young team's current and future success," said Georgia Debate Union head coach Hays Watson.
