Music Performance: “Appalachian Spring: Music Exploring Regional Identity and Race”

colorful quilt
Georgia Museum of Art - 90 Carlton Street, Athens, GA 30602

Students from the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will perform a program of music designed and conducted by David Stanley, master’s student in conducting at the Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Alongside Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring,” the program includes music by African American composers, exploring the intersection of rural regional identity and race. The language of quilting and musical program will tell stories of the American experience, along with the lessons and hope we gain from combining our diverse experiences. For full musical selections or more information, please contact david.stanley@uga.edu.
