2015 Holiday Concerts

The annual tradition that brings together our campus and community continues this week with the UGA Holiday Concerts on Dec. 3 and 4 in Hodgson Concert Hall at the Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.:

The UGA Symphony Orchestra, directed by Mark Cedel, and the combined choirs of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music will perform John Rutter’s “Gloria,” the first suite of Robert Shaw’s “Many Moods of Christmas,” excerpts from Bach’s “Magnificat,” and other seasonal favorites.

The UGA British Brass Band will also join the action, performing several holiday classics and playing famous yuletide songs in a “sing-along” section of the performance, with concert-goers providing the vocals.

Conducting duties will rotate between several School of Music faculty and one graduate student: Drs. Dan Bara and J.D. Burnett, the director and associate director of choral activities; Claudine Gamache, a doctoral conducting student; and Phil Smith, professor of trumpet.

The UGA symphony and combined chorus in concert is a moving experience, not to be missed. Join a festive exaltation in the joys of the season and the extraordinarily talent of our student and faculty musicians by getting your seat for Thursday or Friday. Or both!
