Professor Lasek-White, Internship and Career Coordinator for the Humanities, is seeking a student intern to develop career resources for all Humanities departments, including: Classics, Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies, English, Germanic and Slavic Studies, History, Linguistics, Philosophy, Religion, and Romance Languages. Candidates should be motivated self-starters with strong communication skills and an interest in content creation.
As the Internship and Career Coordinator for the Humanities intern, your work may in involve the following:
- Researching potential internship sites for each of the departments
- Communicating with student groups, student ambassadors, and/or undergraduate coordinators/advisors to plan professionalization events
- Help to coordinate, promote, and execute other events, such as the Careers in Academia Panel and Humanities Alumni Panels
- Help develop/maintain various deliverables, including the Humanities Job Board in Park Hall
- Research career offerings in other departments/colleges and share when appropriate for humanities students
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be currently enrolled with a declared Humanities major or minor at UGA
- Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
- Motivated and able to work collaboratively and independently
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated research abilities
- Ability to juggle several different projects through completion
As this is a new position, there will be an opportunity for growth, depending on the intern’s interests and skills.
This one credit internship, which counts for Experiential Learning credit, will require up to 10 hours of work per week and is for Fall 2025 with a possibility of renewal for Spring 2026. Along with the work of the internship, the student will keep a weekly log of duties/responsibilities and will present a portfolio at the end of the internship with an updated resume and at least three example of the work completed as part of the internship.
