Faculty kudos:
Five UGA faculty members have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The honor, recognizing “scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications,” goes to Elizabeth Jean Reitz (anthropology), Lisa Alayne Donovan (plant biology), Nancy R. Manley (genetics), Allen J. Moore (genetics), and Sally Walker (geology).
Judson Mitcham, Georgia’s poet laureate and Franklin alum, and the late author Toni Cade Bambara will be honored as the newest inductees of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame at its 2013 ceremony.
Student kudos:
UGA Honors student Juliet Elizabeth Allan has been awarded a 2013 Rhodes Scholarship.
Chad Landon, a junior majoring in biological science/pre-medicine, is one of two recipients of The UGA Office of Sustainability scholarship for study abroad in sustainability, a part of the Brittney Fox Watts Memorial Endowment.
Kelly Ann King, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, was recognized as First Honor Graduate during the Dec. 14 undergraduate Commencement ceremonies in Stegeman Coliseum. She completed her degree requirements with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
