Designer and master silversmith Julia Woodman will give the 2013 Ann Orr Visiting Artist lecture on February 8 at 5:30 p.m. in room S150 of the Lamar Dodd School of Art. The lecture is free and the public is invited to attend. Woodman will also give a workshop the following day, Feb. 9 from 9:30 to 5 p.m. at the Thomas Street Art Complex, where she will share instruction and techniques with students and faculty.
The Ann Orr Morris Memorial Fund was established in 1988 and has since enriched the jewelry and metals program at the school of art with resources for lectures and workshops by nationally recognized leaders in jewelry and metals. We're indebted to supporters of the school of art for the opportunities they provide for our students.
Julia Woodman studied with third and fourth generation Fabergé masters while on a Fulbright grant in Finland and teaches at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Atlanta, Chastain Arts Center and Penland School of Craft, Penland, NC. With Dodd Professor Lola Brooks on the faculty this year, it is indeed high water for jewelry and metals at UGA. Don't miss this lecture.
