Music Notes

Sorry - that title was too easy. But there is so much in terms of news and events coming out of the Hugh Hodgson School of Music that I hope to make this a regular feature on the blog.

For example, coming up on Monday, February 20, the Music Therapy program will offer their Music Therapy Musicale, featuring students and faculty from the program in performances of the many styles of music used in therapy, including pop and rock, blues and classical, everything from kids' music to golden oldies.

Other news of, um, note:

Classic City Jazz will perform a Valentine's concert of jazz standards, ballads and blues at the UGA Chapel on North Campus, Saturday, feb. 11 at 8 p.m.

Guest artist Mariano Garcia Jimenez ( saxophone) will perform a recital on Feb. 14 in Edge Hall.

Composition faculty member Roger Vogel has his works performed in the U.S. and internationally this past year.

Director of Bands and Wind Ensemble conductor John Lynch guest conducted the U.S. Army Field Band in January.

And Monica Hargrave, instructor of harp in the school of music, was selected as a judge for the Peabody Awards.

Many of the recitals and performances, like the Music Therapy Musicale, by Hodgson School of Music students and faculty are presented to the public free of charge, so you should attend as many as possible. If you do not already receive the regular Monday email listing all of that week's concerts, you can sign up here.
