Paula Lemons

Associate Dean

As Associate Dean, Paula Lemons oversees the supplemental instructional budget, which funds graduate teaching and laboratory assistants and non-tenure track faculty involved in instruction. She also oversees matters related to graduate education and serves as the liaison to the Graduate School. She is the liaison for the social and behavioral sciences, including the departments of Anthropology, Communication Studies, Geography, Psychology, and Sociology.

Dr. Lemons is Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and serves as the Director of the Scientists Engaged in Education Research (SEER) Center and executive committee member of the Owens Institute for Behavioral Research. She conducts research in undergraduate STEM education, focusing on the development of conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills, evidence-based pedagogies, professional development as a context for instructor learning, and institutional change in higher education. Dr. Lemons leads the UGA DeLTA project that seeks to shift undergraduate education toward evidence-based decision making, continuous improvement, active collaboration and communication about teaching, and promoting diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice.
