The UGA Humanities Seminar

The Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, the Office of Research, and the humanities departments and institutes at UGA have partnered to pilot a Humanities Seminar for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years. The Seminar aims to foster an engaging and generative intellectual community that deepens humanities culture and its impact at UGA and beyond. Faculty read and discuss current scholarship that showcases the range of humanistic inquiry at its most ambitious and insightful, including scholarship that speaks to the contributions and goals of the humanities today. Fellows are selected on the basis of their achievements and their vision for projects, initiatives, or experiments that benefit the university or communities beyond campus through the humanities. Participating faculty receive one course release for the academic year and a support account of $2,000. Calls for applications are publicized in the spring.
