UGA Opera Theatre presents Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro

UGA Opera Theatre will complete its trifecta of Mozart's three most famous operas created with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte in their production of Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) this weekend:

This energetic period production juxtaposes side-splitting comedy with biting social commentary, all illuminated through Mozart's ingenious score. It’s no surprise why Le nozze di Figaro is one of the most famous and beloved operas of all time.

Performances will take place in the UGA Fine Arts Theatre on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 at 8:00pm, and on February 25 at 3:00pm. This production is presented with the UGA Opera Orchestra under the baton of international conductor Maestro Hilary Griffiths. Staging is energetically brought to life by guest director Dean Anthony, faculty at the Brevard Music Center.

Le nozze di Figaro (The Marriage of Figaro) is one of Wolfgang A. Mozart's most delightful comic operas. It presents a 1700's version of the complications involving love, power, and infidelity that modern society still struggle with today.

Even if you've never seen the opera, you will recognize some of the music in The Marriage of Figaro. And if you've never attended a performance by the UGA Opera Theatre, you will be in for a special treat - the voice students and musicians in the school of music perform at an extraordinarily high level. And it is Mozart, after all. A recipe for delight.
