Our Mission

Connecting our campus community with a wide variety of cultural programming, the Fine and Performing Arts boasts of a legacy of opportunity for student-artists and audiences. The Division consists of the Lamar Dodd School of Art, the department of Dance, the Hugh Hodgson School of Music and the department of Theatre & Film Studies.

Venues for the arts on campus include Ramsey Concert Hall, Robert Edge Hall and Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall in the UGA Performing Arts Center; the Fine Arts Theatre and the Cellar Theatre; the New Dance Theatre; and the galleries of the Lamar Dodd School of Art.

Our Departments

The School of Art not only strives to prepare students for personally meaningful careers, but recognizes that it also must help create a receptive environment for the visual arts.

Coursework in ballet and modern dance far outweighs that in the other styles, but ballroom, jazz, tap, and world dance forms are also included in requirements for the major.

We offer a wide variety of degree programs from baccalaureate through doctoral levels, as well as many opportunities for all UGA students to participate in ensembles and academic classes.

All of our degrees are liberal arts degrees providing an exposure to several fields of knowledge in the physical, biological and social sciences, the humanities and the arts while also allowing various concentrations.
