Ten Franklin College students receive Fulbright offers

Ten Franklin College of Arts and Sciences students and alumni were awarded Fulbright offers for this academic year, helping place UGA among the top producing universities for Fulbright students in the United States. 

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in more than 160 countries to recent college graduates and graduate students. It is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.

The eight students and alumni are: 

  • Mark Adams - international affairs, French; Morocco
  • Alex Drahos - international affairs, urban studies, political science, honors inderdiciplinary studies; Taiwan
  • Mackenzie Buck - Russian, political science, public relations; Bulgaria
  • Madison Fulton - Spanish, Russian; Uzbekistan
  • Jacqueline GaNun - journalism, French minor; France
  • MaryQuinn Mills - Asian languages and literature, international affairs; Turkey 
  • Saanvikha Saravanan - biochemistry and molecular biology, Spanish; SpainAnna Whaley; history, political science, Spanish; Spain 

Two graduate students who received offers for research are: 

  • Alyx Bontrager - earning a master’s degree in anthropology; Indonesia
  • Gregory Dolezal - A.B. ‘98 Sociology; now earning a doctorate in learning, leadership and organization development; Laos
