Art, Area of Emphasis in Drawing & Painting - B.F.A.

About this Degree

The BFA program in Drawing and the BFA program in Painting exposes students to a full range of aesthetic and intellectual pedagogy.

Students investigate various types of media including charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, graphite, aqueous media, oil, and acrylic paint. Through research, experimentation, and critique, they master basic drawing and painting skills and begin to address art's relationship to contemporary issues and ideas.

Art majors enter the profession to pursue both fine art practice and applied art in business as well as in education and graduate study. Students are prepared for work in technical as well as creative areas of art and design. Each specialization offers a variety of employment opportunities in areas ranging from mass communications to the service industries.
