Lauren joined the Franklin Office of Information Technology web services team in 2011 and was honored with the IT Professional of the Year Award in 2019.
Franklin College Responsibilities
She serves as the Lead Project Manager and Web Developer on all Franklin College Department Sites. She's the web team's front-end expert in Drupal 8. She also shares responsibility for web maintenance requests for current clients.
Lauren has served on the steering committee of the Web Accessibility Group, working to implement standards that further accessibility of information communication technology system-wide. She previously managed the UGA Biosciences Learning Center.
She has held a range of media jobs, including working for a local video production company, a government-access channel, a newspaper, and a state college. She holds state and/or national awards in video production, photography and news writing, and a Media Leadership Certificate from Grady College, Cox Communications and the Poynter Institute. In 2016 she graduated cum laude from UGA's Grady College with a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism, emphasis in Publication Management, and a minor in Women's Studies.
In addition to being recognized as IT Professional of the Year, she has received three "Bennie" awards which acknowledge contributions of professionals in the Office of Information Technology.
Lauren is active in local politics and transportation issues. She currently serves on the TSPLOST Citizens Oversight Committee as well as the Athens in Motion Commission to implement the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. On the weekends she teaches trapeze to kids and adults at Canopy Studio. She owns a tiny house and hates to cook.
