All students who pursue a second baccalaureate degree in the Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Georgia must meet semester core degree requirements. In addition, the following requirements apply depending upon where you obtained your first baccalaureate degree (foreign institution, regionally accredited US institution, University System of Georgia School, or University of Georgia).
Foreign Institution
If your first baccalaureate degree is from a foreign institution, you must satisfy the following requirements:
- Complete core requirements in place at the time of matriculation into your second degree program.
- Take and pass the Regents' examination no later than your second semester of enrollment at UGA.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the history of the United States and Georgia either by examination or by passing an approved course.
- Demonstrate knowledge of both the constitution
of the U.S. and the constitution of Georgia either by examination
or by passing an approved course.
- Complete the Franklin College requirements (this does not include the Multicultural requirement).
- Complete the Cultural Diversity requirement.
- Satisfy the residency requirement by taking at least 30 semester hours at a 2000 level or above with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above.
- Complete a minimum of 15 hours of major coursework in residence. (Some majors may require more than the minimum of 15 hours.)
- Complete at least 39 hours of coursework at the 3000 level or above (can include coursework from first baccalaureate degree).
You do not need to satisfy the following requirements:
- Basic P.E.
- Environmental Literacy
- Multicultural Requirement
Regionally Accredited US Institution
If your first baccalaureate degree is from a US (regionally accredited) institution, you must satisfy the following requirements:
- Complete core requirements in place at the time of matriculation into your second degree program.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the history of the United States and Georgia either by examination or by passing an approved course.
- Demonstrate knowledge of both the constitution
of the U.S. and the constitution of Georgia either by examination
or by passing an approved course.
- Complete the Franklin College requirements (this does not include the Multicultural requirement).
- Complete the Cultural Diversity requirement.

- Complete a minimum of 15 hours of major coursework in residence. (Some majors may require more than the minimum of 15 hours.)
- Complete at least 39 hours of coursework at the 3000 level or above (can include coursework from first baccalaureate degree).
You do not need to satisfy the following requirements:
- Basic P.E.
- Environmental Literacy
- Regents' Exam
- U.S. and Georgia History
- U.S. and Georgia Constitution
- Residency requirement (other than major residency)
