An Olympic Move-in Weekend

It is a coincidence that the Games of the XXXI Olympiad officially begin tonight and students begin their move into the UGA dorms on Sunday? Maybe, and in truth Athens has already begun to fill up with students again (I see parents walking on the lawn outside my window right now) and I watched an Olympic soccer match two days ago. But the Olympic games - featuring many UGA athletes and coaches, reported on by our sports journalists and assisted by our colleagues in sports communication - are a wonderful tradition and a important cultural spectacle for which we wish great success. Also, I think we can lend Uganda our hashtag for a few weeks. It's and honor and a priviledge, also the friendly thing to do.

And the big move-in: 22 residence halls in eight communities, oh, the humanity!

Move in for fall 2016 begins Sunday, August 7 at 7 a.m. Residents not required to be on campus for activities on August 7 are strongly encouraged, but not required, to arrive on August 8-10.  All residents should arrive by 9 a.m. on August 11.

Good luck to everyone getting settled, getting lost, finding where to park, losing your car keys, finding your way, making new friends, helping write our next chapter in the history of this great university as well as at the Olympics. See you on campus.
