Franklin College: Framework for the Future

From Interim Dean Hugh Ruppersburg:

Dear members of the Franklin College community,

I am pleased to share with you the outcome of our year-long strategic planning initiative:  "Franklin College:  Framework for the Future" (framework.franklin.uga.edu).  As the front page indicates, this plan offers a statement of shared values and aspirations that emerged from discussions throughout the college community, and that will be informative for the future of the college.  I know incoming Dean Alan Dorsey will be appreciative of the insights and objectives articulated in the "Framework," as well as in the individual departmental plans that formed its foundation.

This report draws on the thoughtful and focused contributions of many of you.  I would like to acknowledge especially the role of department heads and faculty in articulating departmental vision documents; the Faculty Senate Planning and Evaluation Committee for their rigorous and thoughtful review of early stage concepts and priorities; the members of the Franklin College Dean's Council who offered comments on the draft plan as well as creative ideas and support for its implementation; and the Dean's Student Advisory Council and Franklin Ambassadors who provided invaluable student perspectives.  I would also like to thank my colleagues in the dean's office—especially Linda Bachman, Kecia Thomas, and Jean Martin-Williams--for their efforts to bring this initiative to completion.

We have much to be proud of in the Franklin College, and much to look forward to.  It will be a pleasure to continue to work with all of you, with Dean Dorsey, and with our colleagues across campus to realize the aspirations the college community has put forward.

Sincerely,

Hugh Ruppersburg

Interim Dean, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences
