UGA CENTER RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT FOR STUDENT RESEARCH
ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Georgia Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies had been awarded a $10,000 Tinker Foundation Field Research Grant to provide funds in support of travel for graduate students carrying out pre-thesis or pre-dissertation research in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking Latin America and the Caribbean during summer 2004.
The UGA Graduate School provided an additional $10,000 match for the program. This is the third year in a row CLACS has received a Tinker field research grant. In 2003, 16 students from eight UGA departments received travel awards to carry out summer research in 12 Latin American/Caribbean countries.
In March, CLACS will formally announce its summer 2004 field research travel award competition through its listserv and website. It encourages all students interested in carrying out research in Spanish or Portuguese-speaking Latin America and the Caribbean during the summer of 2004 to apply for this travel award.
Visit the CLACS website at http://www.clacs.uga.edu for more information about this opportunity.
