As Associate Dean, I am primarily responsible for student academic
affairs within the College. This includes the Office of Academic
Advising, Graduation Certification Office and University Studies.
I meet with all Second Dismissal students in the College and
my office handles all grade changes, major changes, late add
requests and course deletes. I also work with the Educational
Affairs Committee and Independent and Distance Learning to represent
the Franklin College in regards to student petitions and appeals.
I teach in both the History Department and African-American
Studies.
Because of these responsibilities I am a member of several campus-wide
advisory and planning committees. In order to best serve our students,
I work closely with offices such as the Office of the Vice President
for Instruction, the Office of the Vice President for Student
Affairs, Financial Aid, Undergraduate Admissions, as well as each
of the academic departments in the Franklin College. I am the
contact person and coordinator for a range of student awards and
honors, which include Dean's List, Who's Who Among American College
Students, Leadershape UGA, the Regents Opportunity Scholarship
and Blue Key. I also work with Dean Stokes to coordinate the Dean's
Student Advisory Board. And I co-chair the Franklin College Student
Activities Fee Allocation Committee which allocates funds to the
academic student groups within the college. |
