The university community will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate the life of retired Regents Professor of English and creative writing Judith Ortiz Cofer, who passed away on Dec. 30. The memorial service will be held Jan. 27 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel followed by a reception in Demosthenian Hall.

The Athens-Clarke County Hispanic and Latino community faces significant challenges when trying to access basic services locally, according to a report by the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute:
